How to resize desktop icons in mac os x

If you are wondering how to change the size of the icons on your desktop, you have come to the right place.
You will see that it’s in fact really easy, even though some people don’t know that this option exists.

While you are on your desktop, all you have to do is press Command + J and new window will pop up.
Now you have the option to fit the icon size to your needs, as well as a few other options, such as grid spacing (spacing between the icons), icon label size and position.

If you are keeping a lot of icons on your desktop all of the time, it is probably a good idea to make them a little smaller, so that you avoid icon clusters.

You can also make icons bigger or smaller while you using the Finder.
Just like before, press Command + J, and a similar window will pop up.

However, this window has a few additional features, like sorting items by a certain attribute. Making icons bigger can prove to be very handy when browsing big folders with a huge number of photos, for example.
