How to relaunch the Finder on a Mac (When it’s frozen)

Your Finder can freeze a bit from time to time, or a certain feature like dock magnifying can stop working, but it’s nothing you should be worried about, as it can be easily fixed. All you have to do is relaunch the Finder.

This can be achieved in a few ways. Here is how you can do it.

Relaunch the Finder from the Dock:

This is probably the simplest way to relaunch the Finder. Press option (alt) on your keyboard and right click on the Finder icon in the Dock, and then select “Relaunch”.

Relaunch the Finder using Force Quit:

Click on the Apple menu in the top left corner of your screen, and then select “Force Quite”. Now select the Finder and click “Relaunch”.

After you’ve followed one of these two steps your Finder and computer should start functioning normally again.
